- Hi,
-
- The best low-cost AND RELIABLE product (H/W + S/W) for Voicemail and
- FAX I know of is an old NSC modem called TYIN2000. Although not
- advertised agressively any more, it is still considered one of the
- best (in terms of voice quality as well as reliability == NO PC
- CRASHES, although bundled S/W lacks *flashy features*) by developers
- and users alike, and is available quite cheaply. I myself have many
- times evaluated other voice products (both Rockwell as well as Cirrus
- Logic based chipsets, coupled with various Voicemail S/W such as
- Supervoice and Faxworks) hoping to get improved features. But after a
- few PC crashes and loosing important messages I always returned to my
- faithfull old TYIN2000. To overcome it's low DATA throughput (2400bps,
- although there is a 14.4kbps version called TYIN4000) I simply
- purchased the cheapest 14.4kbps modem I could find (cost me around
- 70$). I DID have to develop a few utilities to enhance the bundled
- S/W.
-
- Hope that helps.
